Recently, I finished the book How Tia Lola Saved the Summer by Julia Alvarez. Twelve year old Miguel is not looking forward to having to share his home with a lot of people and definitely not with a bunch of girls. The girls too thrilled at the thought of spending their vacation in a small town in Vermont, either. Thankfully, his aunt Tia Lola makes the summer an exciting adventure. And over the course of their stay, everyone changes for the better& with a little help from a little magic, of course.

I very recently just finished reading the book Priscilla the Great by Sybil Nelson. This book is about a seemingly ordinary 12 year old girl who discovers she has super powers that she inherits from her mother. All her life, her mother has been away, traveling the world under the ruse of being a pharmacist. However, it turns out her mother has been out trying to save the world from the evil Selliwood Academy, a place where children are turned into heartless violent machines. Will Priscilla be able to help defeat the Selliwood Academy? Read Priscilla the Great to find out.

I recently finished the book History of the United States by Erik Sass. This book was about the entire history of the United States, and it covered everything from the Pilgrims coming over to the Americas on the Mayflower until the NASA space rocket missions. Although the word History may make your eyes glaze over in boredom, the mix of fun facts that are mostly unknown among the common population in the book make the book seem more fun than reading a history textbook.

I recently read the book Half Upon a Time by James Riley. This book is a parody on Jack and the Beanstalk. In Jack's village, you are thought highly of if you rescue a princess and then marry her. Jack, however, wants no part in rescuing a snobby princess and then marrying her. But one day, a girl falls out of the sky with the words Punk Princess written on her shirt. But something was wrong. This girl didn't look like a princess. And where was Punk?

I recently read the book, Love and Pollywogs from Camp Calamity by Mary Hershey. You would find it in a library under realistic fiction. I found the book to be interesting and very realistic. This book was about 10 year old Effie Maloney going away from home for the very first time. This was very exciting for Effie because no one in her family had ever gone on vacation before because her mom was trying to make ends meet. See, Effies mom was Effies only guardian because her father had been arrested for stealing money from people.

The book I just read was Your life, But Cooler by Crystal Velasquez. This book was about YOU. Have you ever wondered what you might do in certain scenarios? Have you wondered if those choices made you a bad person? In Your life, Only Cooler, you are the main character and you get to decide how the story ends. At the end of each chapter, there will be a personality quiz in which you decide what you would do in certain scenarios. This book fits into a realistic fiction genre. Interested? Read Your life, Only Cooler by Crystal Velasquez.
