Stormy Jones hates the Everglades, which, unfortunately for her, is where she is forced to spend her summers with her divorced father. This particular summer, her dad decides to take her on a fire-fighting expedition in the forest, and immediately loses track of her. Stormy, a regular city girl, is left to fend for herself, until she meets Nokosee. Nokosee, a native of the Everglades, takes her on several adventures on the way back to the "Outside", as he calls civilization.

The Thrilling Life of Pauline de Lammermoor, by Edeet Ravel This book is the first in the series, Pauline, btw. It is written in a new format, as Pauline is recording her story as a novel, which she may want to try to publish. As school lets out for the summer after 6th grade, Pauline decides to devote her summer to writing her novel. She has lots to say, about her friends, family, and a certain boy named Yoshi. Her parents had divorced, and her mother has started dating again, while her father is busy painting pictures of old shoes.

It is written in a new type of format, as Pauline is recording her story as a novel, and attempts to get it published, as in the first book in the series. In this episode, Pauline struggles with many adolescent problems: her best friend is moving to Toronto, her parents recently divorced, and she is starting the 8th grade. She meets a new boy at school, and starts seeing him, although she already has a boyfriend.
