In DRAGON AND LIBERATOR by Timothy Zahn, Jack and Draycos have yet another adventure together. This time, Draycos's people, the K'da, a symbiotic kind of dragon, are at the mercy of Arthur Neverlin, a crime lord. In the beginning of DRAGON AND LIBERATOR, Jack, Draycos, and their burglar companion, Alison, are trying to break into a supposedly invulnerable K'da safe that contains data diamonds that may save the K'da people. Unfortunately, the safe is on a truck guarded by armed Brummgan soldiers. Alison prepares to set a trap for the vehicle in a hangar.

The Fan's Guide to the Spiderwick Chronicles by Lois H. Gresh is a guide to the popular fantasy series by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. The first chapters of the book summarize all of the Spiderwick Chronicle novels. The book also gives a useful explanation of all the characters and creatures found in the novels. Gresh shares her opinion on the books and situations that happen in them. She goes into a brief, but detailed description of the three main characters: Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace.

D. M. Cornish starts his latest novel in the Monster Blood Tattoo series (a planned trilogy), Lamplighter, where his first book, Monster Blood Tattoo, left off. Lamplighter follows a Foundling (orphan) boy, Rossamünd, who has been summoned to train under the military branch of the Lamplighters, soldiers who walk the Empire's monster- plagued streets and light the Great Lamps for the safety of travelers. Rossamünd arrives at the Lamplighters' barracks, Winstermill Manse, and begins his training as a prentice.

Sebastian Darke: Prince of Fools is about a young half-elf jester whose father has recently died. Sebastian embarks on an adventure to the kingdom of Keladon to seek employment, which his father never got to finish. Along the way, Sebastian (and his pessimistic buffalope, Max) meet a Golmirian warrior named Cornelius and a spoiled princess named Kerin. Sebastian is shocked to learn that Kerin is the niece of King Septimus of Keladon. After saving Princess Kerin from the barbaric brigands and wolflike lupers, they get to Keladon and are welcomed by Septimus.

SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT, by Derek Landy, follows the story of a twelve-year-old girl named Stephanie Edgley. The book starts out at the time when Stephanie's uncle, Gordon (who happens to be a fantasy author), is murdered. Stephanie's family is under the impression that Gordon was not murdered, but Stephanie believes otherwise. Soon after Gordon's funeral, Stephanie and her parents are invited to the reading of Gordon's will, along with Gordon's other, very unpleasant brother Fergus and his even more unpleasant wife, Beryl.

Lorenzo and the Turncoat, by Lila and Rick Guzman, is about Lorenzo Bannister, a former member of the Continental Army, now a doctor. The book starts out as a British general, Robert Hawthorne, is throwing a party in honor of the British Army's latest victory. In the middle of the party, a messenger bursts in, telling Hawthorne that his cousin has been hung for treason by Colonel Galvez, leader of the Spanish Army, in New Orleans. Hawthorne sets out for New Orleans on a mission to clear his family name. Meanwhile, Dr.
