The book A Drowned Maidens Hair is a really good book. The story takes place in the past during the 1900s in England. The main character is an eleven year old orphan girl named Maud who is short for her age, sings well, but always seems to get in trouble. The story starts when Maud is singing in an outhouse, a punishment for misbehaving, and is discovered by a woman who is looking to adopt an orphan. She is adopted by this old lady and her two sisters who are known as the Hawthorn sisters.
