Jake Waters has a hard life. He lives in the small town of Patience, Kansas. His father is crazy with the idea creating the ATM (American Toilet Museum). He's working hard to win the World Series of Workup. Plus, he has to save his small town from complete destruction! All the trouble began when Jeremiah Waters (the founder of Patience) made the first plunger to unclog his Dolphin Deluge Washdown Water Closet (indoor toilet). A very religious man named Andars Cass didn't like the idea at all, and then trouble followed.
Sam Carnabie's parents have to go to a conference in Reading, so Sam will be staying with their friend, Professor Alexander Ampersand. Sam becomes quick friends with Professor Ampersand's niece and nephew: Zara and Ben. During his stay, an unexpected visitor, Professor Eric Gauntraker, arrives. He brings some terrible news: The evil Professor Murdo has returned!!! Professor Ampersand tells the kids the story of how he, Professor Gauntraker, Professor Murdo, and 4 other professors were going to teach at a university in Nordbergen- a tiny island in the far north.
The four cat clans and their forest homes are being destroyed by two-legs(a.k.a. humans). Their only chance of survival lies with four chosen cats. These cats, accompanied by two others- Stormfur and Squirrelpaw- go on a mission to try and rescue the clans. While crossing over the mountains, they meet a Tribe of cats. The Tribe cats declare that Stormfur was sent to them to save them from Sharptooth- a mountain lion who has been picking off the Tribe cats one by one. In the end, one cat will not return home.
The forest is home to four different clans of cats. However, they are all in grave danger. Their only hope lies with four chosen cats, one from each clan. These chosen cats are given a prophecy through a dream, and although they are from rival clans, they must learn to work together to defeat an unknown enemy or face a terrible fate- the destruction of all their clans.
