Steelheart is about a boy named David, who has been forced to live in the steel caverns below what is known as Newcago. He was raised by his father, who had been his sole caretaker and rolemodel for his childhood. That was before Camamity. Calamity, which had been reduced to a glowing red sphere in the sky, was still a mystery. It had appeared out of nowhere, and at the same time, ordinary people became more than ordinary. They had been granted extroadinary powers, but as they became more ahead of the rest of humanity, they gradually lost their humanity altogether.
