INTERVIEW WITH JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT:

How did you get started writing? 

I always wanted to be a writer, so I used to spend all of my time, even during unrelated classes in school, writing short stories.  I didn't write anything seriously until a few years ago when I decided to write a book.  The first book I wrote was Half-Blood, and then I started writing more books from there.

Who influenced you?  

I was influenced by one of my favorite authors, Richie Cusick.  I love all of her books.

Do you have a favorite book/subject/character/setting?  

I've always been interested in anything that has to do with history.  That's definitely my favorite subject. 

What advice do you have for someone who wants to be an author?  

It's important to write what you want to write and not what you think you need to write.  The story will flow more naturally that way.

Where is your favorite place to write?

I keep trying to write in my office, but I usually find myself writing in my living room.  I like to have background noise, so I will turn on the TV and sit on my couch to write.   
 

What else would you like to tell us? 

My latest YA release is White Hot Kiss, which is the first book in the Dark Elements Series.  It's about a half gargoyle, half demon named Layla whose kiss kills anything with a soul.  When she becomes caught between a hot gargoyle, Zayne, and Roth, a sexy demon, things start to get really interesting.
