Sam Holloway

Sam Holloway has spent most of his life in the northwest or High Arctic. As a gold prospector, he traveled hundreds of miles, often alone, in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Worked as a deckhand on the McKenzie River towboats from Hay River to North Slope, Alaska.


Was the editor of two history magazines, “The Yukon Reader,” and “The Yukoner.”


Author of a gold prospector manual which is still in print. Wrote a newspaper column for many years and won a Heritage Award for publishing the memoirs of ordinary Yukoners.


A widower, he alternates between cabins at Marsh Lake and Ross River, Yukon.
