In the early 1970’s I was teaching Title I Reading at Levi Elementary School in Memphis Tennessee. One of my co-workers was Wilford Jones, who was the PE teacher. Wilford, an African America, was an artist as well. I had been thinking about writing a children’s book. I asked him if he would do the illustrations for me. He said he would. I wrote the first 5 or 6 pages and he came up with the characters. Inspired by his drawings, I finished the book.
I grew up in the Presbyterian Church. As a child I learned the following song:

I had spent my entire life believing these words. For 35 years I was a public school teacher. Therefore, I wanted my book to reflect this message.
On 2008 I self-published this book with Eloquent Books. The title at that time was, “Orange Polar Bears Don’t Cry”. It did not sell well because I felt the price was too high. Recently I decided to give it another try. The new title is, “It Is Simple You See”.
