November Writing Contest

Winning awesome book prizes can be as simple as saying, "I'm sorry!"

During the spring of 1692, "rampant fear among the Puritans in the New England village of Salem sparked attacks against anyone who was suspected of witchcraft." The hysteria created by poorly substantiated accusations of witchcraft resulted in unlawful trials and ultimately to the deaths of 24 people.

To celebrate Jakob Crane and Timothy Decker's graphic novel, Lies in the Dust, Islandport Press and LitPick are running a writing contest. All you have to do is write a letter of apology from your own perspective or that of an accuser in the Salem Witch Trials.

PRIZES:

1) One winner will receive a signed copy of Lies in the Dust, a LITD t-shirt, and a drawing from the artist.

2) A runner-up will receive a copy of Lies in the Dust and a LITD t-shirt.

Teachers, for every 10 student entries that you submit, your classroom will receive a different bonus book!

Both children, young adults, and adults can submit their entries from now until November 25th. Make sure that your letter of apology is easy to understand, compelling, and grammatically correct.

Good luck, and happy writing!

Guidelines for entries:
1. Write a 500-word-maximum letter
2. Submit your letter to i.apologize@litpick.com by pasting it in the body of an email. Students, please include your teacher's name.
