Staz is a former elementary teacher. She has a traditionally published children's novel on Black Heron Press under her full name, Stasia Decker-Ahmed. She has also written several self-published middle-grade books and one young adult book. She lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with her husband and her Corgi-Sheltie dog named Ginger.
