John M. Millar served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969; graduated from Officer Candidate School in July 1967; served as a First Lieutenant with the First Infantry Division in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969; and received two Bronze Stars, an Air Medal and a Commendation Medal from the U.S. Army and the Vietnamese Honor Medal and Gallantry Cross for joint operations. After graduating from Cornell University in 1966, Millar attended Darden Graduate Business School at the University of Virginia where he gained an MBA and went into business in 1972.
For fifty years, Millar worked diligently to craft a novel based on reflections of his early years in central Pennsylvania, the Cornell campus culture of the late ‘60s, and his all-too-real intimacy with the costs of America’s wars. “The Wars Among the Paines” is the product of decades of research and dedication since his return from Vietnam in 1969.
