Eric VanTuyl is an author/illustrator. He currently lives in Shavertown, PA. with his wife and two kids. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. When he was young, he loved drawing cartoons. In high school, he took up cartooning for an art class.
He entered an art contest for the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs and came in second place for the most creative poster for grades 9-12. He was excited and proud. When he returned to school the following day he went to visit his art teacher and told her the exciting news of earning second place. His dream was to one day illustrate cartoons. In 2012, his cousin approached him and asked him to illustrate a book she was writing. The book is Jack out of the Box. It is a children's book geared toward self-esteem. After illustrating this book, Eric bought a digital tablet and started drawing again. He decided to work towards his childhood dream of becoming an artist through writing and illustrating.
