LitPick Review
In My Boyfriend is a Monster, by Dan Jolley, Staci Glass and her best friend, Faith, join three wannabe witches in a magical ceremony at a history exhibit. A shriveled up Incan mummy goes missing only to have an Incan prince appear. It seems that the ceremony had apparently risen the dead, and with it, the secrets to magic that the witches wanted.
Now, Staci's life has started to go downhill, and the Incan prince's life may be in danger. The witches want the power that the prince holds and will stop at nothing to get it. Maybe those witches did have a point when they said that a reanimated corpse shouldn't be alive. Will Staci fight for the prince? And at what cost?
Opinion:
The novel was beautifully illustrated and had an easy-to-understand plot. I really liked the characters and how realistic their personalites were. The story was interesting, but was a rather fast-paced read. Regardless, it did not lack in detail. Lastly, I liked how there were multiple themes present: such as magic, history, and romance.
