This was the 5th book in the Alvin Ho series.  Alvin is scared and worried of EVERYTHING!  That character trait is what makes Alvin so endearing and funny.  In this story Alvin notices his mother getting heavier and at first he thinks she is just eating too much.  Then he finds out that she is pregnant and that’s when his anxiety shoots into overdrive.  What really made this book so funny was that Alvin worries so much that he begins to act like he is pregnant!  And if this isn't enough to push Alvin over the edge, he then starts to worry about a rash of burglaries in his neighborhood, protecting his family while his father is away for his job and finally he worries too about the earthquake victims in Haiti.

Opinion:

This book is perfect for anyone who has read the other Alvin Ho books but even a first time reader would enjoy it.  The story is really funny and I love Alvin's character!  I think reluctant readers and boys would really like this book.
