This book is about a girl named Ivy Lovely. She starts out as a scaldrony maid in a castle surrounded by slurry fields that hide magic. Ivy doesn't know she has magic until she's kicked out of the castle and then receives an invitation to Ivy Hall, a prestigious magic academy. On her first day, she meets a friend and has some very interesting classes, all while trying to figure out the mysteries at the school. All her adventures lead up to a very magical ending.

Opinion:

I thought this book was a little slow. At the beginning it was confusing because the author was trying to explain everything while telling the story. It got slower as it told about her classes and meeting her friends. Then you had to try and keep up with her thoughts as she tried to figure out the mysteries. Finally, it got better toward the end as she figured everything out (just in the nick of time).

It was just about a teenage girl and her friends, and there was nothing bad in it at all.
