When Alexandera Jennings's parents get an opportunity to go on a great archealogical adventure, how could they turn say no? Alex, however, isn't so fortunate. With her parents departure to Siberia, she is forced to go to a fancy boarding school that is not fun. Angry and scared, Alex suddenly finds herself somewhere else: the fantasy world of Medora. Immediately, she bumps into a strange and somewhat despicable man named Aven, who says that she is destined to be with him. Her new friends, Jordan and Bear, come to her rescue and the three form an incredible bond. Alex is the first person in thousands of years to come from Freya, which is the name for our world in Medora. Due to this, Alex must unwillingly stay in Medora to attend Akarnae, a school for the Gifted. With advanced classes, and daily visits to the Med-Ward, Alex begins to adapt to a routine. However, evil is in the air and Alex finds herself in the middle of a plot to destroy Medora, Akarnae, and the whole human race. Will Alex ever return home? Can she stop this evil before it's too late?

Opinion:

From the very first page, I fell in love with the energetic and spirited Alex Jennings. The book has so many plot twists. While I read it, I felt involved in the adventure myself. I was walking right beside Alex, and learning what she discovered with her. The Library in the book was portrayed with such mysterious elegance that I want to figure out the millions of secrets within its walls. The author, Noni, creates the most interesting characters. My personal favorite character  was Jordan because of his sarcasm and witty charm. Darrius was such a strong fatherly figure who turned out to be different than I thought he would be. D.C. is also a favorite of mine for her spirit and personality. The suprising characters and overwhelming surprises moved this book to the top of my reading list. Noni creates an advanced society that is based on trust. I loved her word choice and voice throughout this book. Akarnae is amazing, and I can't wait to read the next book, Raelia, which will bring me back into this magical world and continue this daring adventure.

Explain your content rating:

This book does contain some violence, blood, and gore, (Hence Alex always being in the Med-Ward) but does clean everything up and leave us to wonder, "Why can't we have that kind of medicine!"
